The old beetle cat sail boat rounding the point is one of the many that grace the waters of Nantucket as part of the colorful "Rainbow Fleet". Fairly fast, easy to sail, (many were utilized as rentals), stable and seaworthy, more than one foolhardy soul has sailed to Martha's Vineyard or the mainland in this unique craft. However, this is not recommended. Sporting a retractable keel, cats can be sailed in mere inches of water, virtually right up on to the beach. A favorite subject of the artist, this is the best in a series of many seascapes by Marshall DuBock from some of his first efforts in high school art classes to his latest and best effort to date.
